What is an implant?

A small screw, usually made of titanium, acts as a replacement for the root structure of a natural tooth. A dental implant can be placed in either jaw (upper or lower).

After the bone has grown around the implant, dental implants can retain a crown, bridge or overdenture. Implants perform the same function as tooth roots, keeping the natural teeth in place.

A single tooth or a complete arch of teeth that have been lost due to injury or disease can be replaced with dental implants. Titanium is the most commonly used metal due to its compatibility with bone and oral tissues, and the long experience proven with it.

Dental implants can be placed from the age of 18 when the patient has already completed the development process and up to any age. The patient must be in good health. If you have a disease such as diabetes, it is also possible to have implants as long as your diabetes is under control.
